When I first met Elisa, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. She looked like a living skeleton. I couldn't understand how she was still alive. She was a dog everyone seemed to ignore, left to survive on her own.

The first few times I saw her, she was always searching for food among piles of burned plastic and rubbish. That was where she tried to survive. People walked past her every day. Some ignored her; others chased her away. Over time, she became a very fearful dog, but despite everything she had been through, she never lost her gentle heart.

Day after day, I slowly learned where she spent most of her time, and little by little I gained her trust. We formed a bond. I started bringing her food, fresh water, and medication whenever I could. Eventually, I contacted Mission Paws'ible, hoping we could give Elisa the chance she had never had.

Mission Pawsible arranged for a vet team to  rescue Elisa and gave her that chance. They took her to the clinic, started treating the severe blood parasite that was slowly killing her, spayed her, and cared for her every single day.

Watching her transformation has been almost impossible to believe. The frightened, emaciated dog I first met is now healthy again. Her beautiful white coat has grown back, her blood values have improved, and for the first time in a very long time, she has a real chance at life.

Elisa will soon return to the territory she knows, where I will continue caring for her with food and fresh water.

But giving Elisa this second chance came with significant veterinary costs. Blood tests, PCR testing, medication, hospitalization, surgery, and ongoing treatment have all been essential to saving her life.
