FOR DAISY AND HER PUPPIES

This is one of the hardest stories to tell. Unfortunately, not every rescue ends with a happy ending.

I found Daisy in the middle of a construction site.

She was in labor, covered in blood and flies, exhausted, and unable to deliver her puppies. 

Two of her newborn babies were lying in the bushes, tangled in wires, with their placentas still attached. 

They were still alive.

After hours of trying to help her, and thanks to the support of other volunteers, we finally managed to get Daisy to the vet.

Daisy wasn't simply having a difficult birth. She still had two puppies inside her womb: one had already died, and the other was in critical condition. 

The veterinary team performed an emergency caesarean in the attempt to save them.

Sadly, the puppies did not survive.

During surgery, the vets also discovered another problem.

Daisy had a severe wound on her leg that had become badly infected, with parts of the tissue already necrotic. 

We don't know what caused it, an animal bite, or even a bullet wound.

She had been living with that injury for far too long, enduring unimaginable pain.

For several days, the vet team did everything they could to save her. Daisy fought with incredible strength, but the infection had spread too far, and her body was simply too weak. 

In the end, the kindest thing we could do was let her go peacefully.

Daisy was wearing a collar, which means she most likely belonged to someone. Whether she got lost or was abandoned, we may never know.

This is not a story with a happy ending.

But rescuing animals also means standing beside them in their final moments, doing everything possible to ease their suffering, even when we cannot save them.

And as if all of this wasn't enough, the veterinary costs for Daisy's emergency treatment and intensive care have been really high (around 10 millions). 

It may feel unusual to ask for donations for an animal we couldn't save, but if you would like to help me cover Daisy's medical bills and support future rescues, any contribution - no matter how small - would mean a lot.
