Établissement public du Mont Saint-Michel
Preserving Mont Saint-Michel’s Living Heritage
Mont Saint-Michel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of France’s most treasured landmarks, welcoming millions of visitors each year. Beyond its abbey and tidal landscape, the site is also home to a conservatory orchard that preserves historic apple varieties, reflecting Normandy’s centuries-old apple culture.
Today, this living heritage is at risk. Many of the orchard’s trees have been damaged by climate and disease, making restoration urgent. The Établissement public du Mont Saint-Michel is working to replant and care for the orchard to ensure its preservation for generations to come.
By making a tax-deductible donation, U.S. donors can “adopt” an apple tree and help sustain this unique heritage. Your gift supports the conservation of the orchard, the planting of new trees, and the protection of Mont Saint-Michel’s cultural and ecological treasures.
To ensure your generosity goes as far as possible, we kindly ask that all gifts over $5,000 be made by check or wire transfer to avoid platform fees. Detailed instructions can be found here: USD Wire Instructions. All checks must be made out to Friends of Fondation de France with Établissement public du Mont Saint-Michel in the memo section.
