Mission Trip - Puerto Rico
Walker Memorial Academy is on a mission! On February 20 - 27, 2023, a group of WMA High School students will travel to Lares, Puerto Rico to serve the local community. This will be the first WMA Mission Trip in over 8 years, and we are excited and humbled to be reintroducing this incredible opportunity to our students.
This mission trip will provide our students opportunities to work alongside the local community in addressing some of the damages that recent hurricanes have inflicted upon the infrastructure at the Iglesia Adventista de Tres Angeles Church and Camp. The mission team will also be partnering with the local SDA church in evangelism activities throughout the week.
Of course, during a trip like this, there will be ample times for bond-building activities, nature exploration, recreation, and most importantly spiritual activities and worship to help each mission team member to build a more personal relationship with their Lord and Savior. For many of our students, this will be a new experience.
Unfortunately, these kinds of trips do not come without cost. God has blessed the mission team as monies have been raised to cover the cost of transportation, food, and some of the mission project expenses. To keep our costs down and to ensure the majority of our funds are going towards mission, we are flying a budget airline and the local church is graciously housing us at the youth camp where we will be working. However, the need for more funding for the mission itself is still very much a reality and great need.
We are asking you to financially partner with us in our mission. If you would be able to help us in any way, the WMA mission team would be better equipped to serve.
It is a blessing for us to be able to look beyond ourselves and to meeting the needs of others. This is the way we show the love of God to our neighbors (John 13:34-35.) Thank you for your generosity and love!
