Mission Macaw: Fundraiser for Veterinary Care

"MISSION MACAW," has turned VERY URGENT, and we desperately need your help now more than ever!

UPDATE: The second macaw, (the Scarlet Macaw,) we now know also has a bacterial infection. Both birds are being treated for excessive screaming, and psychosis. The Blue and Gold Macaw's leg is healing, but there is some swelling now, and he is hospitalized at their Avian Veterinarian Clinic, and will have new labs run on Friday. We are still raising funds for both birds' medical care, which has become extensive, along with cages for both of them. We have updated our goal to include the extra hospitalization, cages, and medications; (some which could be long term.)

Rainbow Parrot Rescue Florida; Florida's 501c3 Parrot/Toucan, Rescue, Sanctuary, & Educational Organization, is looking for donations for veterinary care for two new macaw residents. We now have a 1 year old Scarlet Macaw, & a 20 year old Blue & Gold Macaw in our flock! Both have had their full veterinary work-ups, CBC's, and are microchipped, but we still NEED YOUR HELP!! 

We now know our Blue & Gold, has an old injury, and a dislocated joint on his leg. He is currently in a small cast, but if he won't stop picking at it, he will have to be sedated, and a much harder cast will have to be put on him. (Eventually, he made need surgery.) But, this guy has already exceeded our veterinary budget, and he has at least two recheck appointments if all goes well. 

Please pray for this poor guy. We are sure he can heal. We are watching him like a hawk! And, despite being 20, (possibly up to 24,) years old; he's handling it like a pro!!

Stay tuned for updates on the Scarlet Macaw, too. We are waiting on several tests on both of our new parrots, to come back over the next couple of weeks.
