Minecraft Design Camp is an innovative new program that the ASLA Fund is working on in conjunction with ASLA. The Minecraft Design Camp program will use the popularity and fun of the Minecraft game to teach high schoolers across the country about the profession of landscape architecture and its impact on people and the planet.
ASLA has found Minecraft (developed by Mojang and now owned by Microsoft) to be a highly effective tool to introduce students to landscape architecture, as proven in our first ASLA Minecraft Design Challenge for high school students in June 2021. The competition provided a unique opportunity for students to learn about ASLA’s mission areas, including green infrastructure, equity in design, climate resilience, transportation for all, water and stormwater, and parks and recreation. Most importantly, the competition positioned students to explore design solutions and a career in landscape architecture.
This year, we want to build on the success of the Minecraft competition with the introduction of Micecraft Design Camps. This year, students will not be competing for prizes, they will be participating for the learning experience with landscape architecture. The longer, in-depth experiences will be put on around the country during World Landscape Architecture Month in partnerships with local ASLA Chapters.
As ASLA continues to broaden the reach and diversity of the profession, we aim to work with ten underserved high schools on this tremendous opportunity. Included in the program is a mini-grant for each school to purchase technology and licenses that they may need to continue this educational programming.
Help us spread the word on the value of landscape architecture, and to build the pipeline for our next generation of landscape architects. Donate today to adopt a high school with a sponosrship of $1500 to help make this program a success. Can't sponsor an entire school, then please help us with whatever you can contribute.

I'm very excited to see how this program helps drive awareness and excitement for landscape architecture going forward. Kuddos to ASLA for taking an innovative approach to promoting the profession to high school students.
