Midstory—Toledo's Media Thinkhub

Midstory is a Toledo-based, educational multimedia 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to uplift and empower communities across the Midwest through creative storytelling and solutions-oriented research. We believe in deep research and critical interpretation of histories to inform, interpret, and inspire people with meaning, direction and connection, especially through those stories that are hidden and overlooked in the Midwest. We work directly with young people and youth, both local and from across the nation, through free, accessible programming aimed at retaining, cultivating and attracting youth and the public to contribute meaningfully to our region.

We offer a lens for local Toledoans to value the region’s underrated, sometimes forgotten stories, from personal narratives to regional histories, everything from a review of an independent artist’s exhibition to a Toledoan’s story of immigration. While economic revitalization gains traction downtown, we believe that cultivating a local culture and a sense of belonging for Toledo residents is necessary to sustain current developments throughout economic highs and lows alike. In addition to the creation of public, accessible educational content, Midstory has a three-part summer program that engages and educates high school students, college interns, and the public.
