Midstory—Toledo's Media Thinkhub
Midstory is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit thinkhub dedicated to telling our region’s stories through multimedia as well as youth & public engagement. We here at Midstory are tackling two main problems we’ve seen in Northwest Ohio and the Midwest: Depopulation and the Media Bubble. We believe that the way to bring young people and vitality back into this region is through soft power: engaging youth and the public in powerful storytelling and providing young people the resources and creative space to find their own story in this city.
When you donate to us, you actively support and strengthen the authentic midwestern identity and unique cultural appeal of Toledo and greater region. 100 percent of the donated proceeds goes to stories, projects, and programming that support our mission to retain, attract and cultivate young talent and strengthen our region's voice in the national canopy.
We offer a lens for local Toledoans to value the region’s underrated, sometimes forgotten stories, from personal narratives to regional histories, everything from a review of an independent artist’s exhibition to a Toledoan’s story of immigration. While economic revitalization gains traction downtown, we believe that cultivating a local culture and a sense of belonging for Toledo residents is necessary to sustain current developments throughout economic highs and lows alike. In addition to the creation of public, accessible educational content, Midstory has a three-part summer program that engages and educates high school students, college interns, and the public.
