Michael Cairns Wetland Education Fund

Your contributions will go directly toward designing and installing a wetlands educational display. The LWC will be working with Gail to install this display at the wetland Michael helped create along Hayden Slough, just west of the Independence Sports Park. Now 11 years oldthis restored wetland contains a variety of native grasses, shrubs and trees, and provides many important services to the plants and animals living there, as well as to the surrounding human community.

Please donate today and help us create an educational display that will celebrate Michael's legacy and help inspire a watershed stewardship ethic within our local community for generations to come!

Michael had a big view of things. He helped build my personal interest the Luckiamute. I am sad when I realize I will never randomly run into him again, at least in this life.

Michael was and will always be an inspiration to me for how to live a meaningful and fully connected life. I'm honored to help in the process of sharing his vision and this beautiful wetland with the community!

My condolences to Gail. I had no idea Michael was responsible for the wetland I admired each time I passed it on my loop walks. Michael had a great sense of community spirit, whether in service of the watershed council or the Lion’s Club or restoring a wetland. We shall miss that spirit. Wendy Hudson.
