Mendota Mural Project "Raise the Depot
"Raise the Depot" is the campaign to complete a mural by artist Ray Paseka depicting the Mendota Union Station, which was built in 1888 and was a dominating structure in Mendota until its demolition in 1942. The mural will be mounted on the building of Triple Service, Inc. in the heart of the Mendota business district. Fundraising will be launched at the Sweet Corn Festival on August 12, 2021 with the hopes of having the installation completed by the 2022 Festival. Direct donations are accepted here. Multiple donations over the course of the year are welcome. This public art on a grand scale will become part of the Silo Pathways Countryside Public Art Tour inviting visitors in to the towns and villages of La Salle, Bureau and Putnam counties in Illinois.
