In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
Maxim is 13 years old. When he was 3 months old he developed acute bronchitis and had to be resuscitated when he stopped breathing. Due to a lack of oxygen and the damage done to his brain during this time he was given a diagnosis of cerebral palsy. He relies on his mother to meet all of his needs. In September, Maxim contracted an infectious disease, most likely COVID. As a result, his hemoglobin dropped significantly, legs swollen and trophic ulcers of the feet appeared. He then developed sepsis, left-sided pneumonia and protein-energy deficiency. He remains in the hospital and has lost 3kg (6.6 pounds). He now weighs just 13kg (28 pounds) at 13 years old.
He is in need urgent of high calorie formula, can you help?
