Maya's Hope: Diapers for a Girl with Cerebral Palsy + Movement Disorder

In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.

"Milanka is our first and very long-awaited child. Pregnancy took place against the background of sore throat in the 1st trimester, but the ultrasound and tests were good and nothing boded trouble. The contractions began at 41 weeks, Milanka was a full-term baby.

Unfortunately, the birth was difficult, with consequences for both the mother and the child. Due to breathing problems and suspected intrauterine pneumonia, Milanka was transferred to intensive care on the first day, where she spent 10 days on a ventilator (artificial lung ventilation). When her condition stabilized and Milasha was able to breathe on her own, she was transferred to the Perinatal Center for Newborns, where she spent 2 weeks with her mother, under constant IVs and injections.

Unfortunately, difficult childbirth and hypoxia did not pass without leaving a trace for our girl. Milanka, later than other children, began to hold her head and turn over, she could sit with support only at 10 months, and sit down on her own as much as 1.5 years old. But despite this, up to 9 months, the doctors assured that Milanka would catch up and outgrow, and we, as parents, believed in this, making every effort and not giving up. And at 9 months, the question of MRI and the establishment of disability was raised.

At 2 years old we were given a diagnosis of the consequences of neuroinfection, spastic tetraparesis with persistent movement disorders. In October 2020, due to problems with the right leg, we had to undergo Strayer's operation. This made it possible to get support on both legs and the ability to stand more steadily, and now Milanka can take a couple of steps on her own without someone else's support, then of course she loses coordination and begins to fall.

Milanka is a very hardworking child. With each rehabilitation course, we have new skills. At the moment, Milasya can sit down and sit perfectly without support, get on all fours and high knees, crawl around the apartment, stand at the support, walk with support for one hand for short distances or with the help of a back-support walker, she can take a couple of steps herself. We have a problem with developmental delay, now Milanka has a 1.5 year development. She doesn't speak, only active babbling. We love our girl. We ask you for help as the cost of her care is high and we have only a small income."

Can you help us purchase diapers for Milana for the next three months?
