Maya's Hope: Formula, meds etc for twins with Retinopathy of Prematurity 2

Children in the Philippines who live in extreme poverty lack access to quality healthcare. They are often denied assistance and are unable to afford necessities to improve their quality of life.

Jayden and Kayden are adorable twin brothers who were born prematurely and suffer from ROP Stage 5, short for Retinopathy of Prematurity, a condition that means that their retinas are completely detached, and they are blind in both eyes. The only treatment is a very expensive and complicated surgery that is not even available in the Philippines. Even if the surgery was available, the twins would not be able to have it because they are physically too frail. Jayden and Kayden live in temporary housing with their older sister and parents. The very crowded small house doesn’t have a solid roof or doors and has a temporary wooden framework for walls. The water that comes from their faucet is not safe to drink so the family must buy distilled water. The twins’ father is uneducated and earns about $95 US dollars a month as a vegetable picker but even that meager amount depends on the harvest available and because of the COVID pandemic lockdowns in their region, earning any money is sometimes impossible. The boys’ mother, who is also uneducated, cannot work because she has to take care of them. The family is forced to skip meals often because they just don’t have enough money for food and the other items they need to survive. Jayden and Kayden are malnourished and very underweight because the family cannot buy the nutritious food recommended by their doctor. Can you please help Maya’s Hope provide fortified formula, distilled water, vitamins, diapers, hygiene products and other basic essentials for the twins so they can thrive under very challenging conditions?
* Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is an eye disorder caused by abnormal blood vessel growth in the light-sensitive part of the eyes (retina) of premature infants. ROP generally affects infants born before week 31 of pregnancy and weighing 2.75 pounds (about 1,250 grams) or less at birth.
