Children in the Philippines who live in extreme poverty lack access to quality healthcare. They are often denied assistance.
Israel is a 4-year-old boy and lives in the Philippines. He has many diagnoses - microcephaly, cerebral palsy, as well as global developmental delays. He also doesn’t have a father in his life. His father abandoned him and his mother when Israel was a tiny 3-month-old baby.
His mother is now a single mom.
She makes a living by selling small food items in front of their home. On a good day, she earns $3 a day. They have had to move in with his grandparents. Due to COVID-19, his aging grandfather, with his own health issues, has been unable to consistently find work for many months. Every day is an enormous struggle for this family.
Israel’s mom reached out to us in August 2020. At 3 years old, he weighed 7.3kgs (16lbs) – less than half of what his weight should have been. He was always getting sick and his mom could not afford medicine.
Through your support, Maya’s Hope has been able to send aid to this family. For the past three months, we have seen small but significant improvements. Israel still needs proper nutrition, diapers, and vitamins. It is so important at his stage in development and with his many diagnoses. Delays in providing for his basic needs lead to a standstill in his progress. This little boy needs your help! This fundraiser will cover about 3 months' worth of his needs! What a relief this would be for Israel and his family!
