Children in the Philippines who live in extreme poverty lack access to quality healthcare. They are often denied assistance and are unable to afford necessities to improve their quality of life.


 

Baby Chelsea is just a few weeks old. She was born with a myelomeningocele, hydrocephalus, and club foot. A myelomeningocele is a severe form of spina bifida in which the spinal cord and nerves develop outside of the body and are contained in a fluid-filled sac that is visible outside of the back area.
Baby Chelsea urgently needs a myelomeningocele repair surgery as it is open and weeping. This puts an extremely high risk of developing a life-threatening infection.
Chelsea's father works hard to provide for his family but his earnings are not enough to pay for this expensive and complex surgery.
