Children in the Philippines who live in extreme poverty lack access to quality healthcare. They are often denied assistance and are unable to afford necessities to improve their quality of life.
“I will fight as long as my baby fights.”
This is what Kaizen’s mother told us when she reached out to Maya’s Hope for urgent assistance. Her son Kaizen is an 11-month-old baby boy with an encephalocele and severe hydrocephalus. An encephalocele is a sac-like protrusion or projection of the brain and the membranes that cover it thought an opening in the skull. In Kaizen’s case, it is covering his right eye. It also leaks fluid. Kaizen suffers from frequent seizures.
During the interview with Maya’s Hope, Kaizen was hospitalized, his condition having worsened. His mother was concerned that they would not have enough food to sustain them at the hospital. She would have to choose between food or antibiotics for her son.
This fundraiser includes Kaizen’s immediate needs as well as antibiotics for his leaking encephalocele, and medicines for his seizures. Thanks to your donations, Kaizen will receive the care that he so urgently needs. Kaizen’s home has no running water. His father is a construction worker but lost his long-term job in October 2021.
The family has been surviving by planting rice. They are desperate, and Kaizen’s mother would like him to be as comfortable as possible. A message from Kaizen’s mother: “Thank you very much ma’am. I will fight as long as my baby fights. We can do everything we can for my baby. I know he fights for everyone.”
Can YOU help us raise funds for Kaizen’s emergency needs?
