We need your help to map the way to a fruitier future!

This year for #GivingTuesday, Concrete Jungle needs our help!

As many of you may know, I started volunteering with Concrete Jungle in 2020. The pandemic left me, like many others, disconnected and helpless. For over a year I work with countless other volunteers to be a good neighbor to my fellow ATLiens battling food insecurity exacerbated by the pandemic. My work with Concrete Jungle has really shown me the tremendous impact and power of community. Our latest initiative is improving our fruit map of over 4,200 fruit trees in Atlanta and Athens. Without CJ’s intervention, much of this fruit would naturally go to waste – rotting on sidewalks and in fields. So CJ works to reduce food waste, while increasing fresh food access.

For my 30th birthday I am asking friends and family to make a  small gift this #GivingTuesday to support Concrete Jungle’s work in the community! With our help, Concrete Jungle will be able to update the fruit map and get fresh food to more people.

Concrete Jungle’s mission is to transform overlooked and underutilized fruit trees and land into a healthy food source for communities in need.

Concrete Jungle has branched out over the years, but fruit picks are still at the heart of our work. Every week from May to December, small clusters of volunteers gather to shake some trees and collect fruit. CJ staff then distribute the fruit to small hunger relief agencies across Atlanta. To date, we have rescued 1.4 million pounds of food that would otherwise go to waste.
