One of the most beautiful hiking trails in East Oahu, the Kuli`ou`ou Ridge Trail is in desperate need of restoration. Kuli`ou`ou Valley is a beautiful watershed that once boasted native trees, shrubs, plants, birds and the Singing Kahuli snails. Today, due to overuse and misuse, switchbacks have been deeply cut, causing destruction of trees and plants, and erosion that harm the ecosystem of Maunalua Bay.
You can be a part of the restoration of this amazing hiking trail! One Saturday a month, Aloha Tree Alliance gathers volunteers to remove invasive species, prepare the earth, plant native trees and create natural barriers at the trail cuts.
Join us, meet incredible people and if you haven’t been introduced to Kuli`ou`ou, let us introduce you. Tree bathing, giving back to the earth and refreshments make for a wonderful way to start your weekend!
Please help us mālama Kuli`ou`ou by sharing our campaign, coming out for work days, and/or donating resources for tools, plants, and weed mat.
Mahalo for your kokua!
