Making Music Together, Apart
SFYSA GOES ONLINE
As of Sunday, March 22, we began meeting with all of our students and providing 25-30 hours per week of online education, musical expression, social connection and shared experiences. We are committed to serving our students and paying our staff through the end of our fiscal year, June 30, 2020. If you are in a position to do so, please give as much as you can to our spring campaign, Making music together, apart. At a time when we all face so much uncertainty economically and socially, you can provide artistic expression, connection, and consistency for our kids, grades 2-12. Please help us sustain our essential work of bringing our community together through music.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we have canceled our annual benefit concert fundraiser, lost several non-profit funders concerned for their own sustainability, are working remotely from our homes, and have suspended all in-person rehearsals and classes for our 300 students from more than 40 schools in northern New Mexico. After acknowledging the loss, our team came together quickly, identified a platform, made a number of choices, and began learning and creating a curriculum to be shared with our orchestra, jazz, mariachi, and elementary strings students online.
Please give as generously as you can. We need $40,000 to cover program costs and salaries for our teaching artists through the end of June 2020.
