Make Music Matter uses the creative process as a therapeutic tool to help empower marginalized individuals and communities to recover, reintegrate and reclaim their future with hope and dignity. Its innovative group therapy program called Healing in Harmony is a combination of psychotherapy and music therapy.
Participants emerge as empowered artists with original songs that serve as advocacy tools. Music is disseminated via local radio, concerts, and major streaming platforms through A4A Records, with global distribution through Warner Music Canada.
Developed in close partnership with 2018 Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Denis Mukwege, Healing in Harmony was initially designed for use in conflict and post-conflict zones. Research published in April 2021 has demonstrated its effectiveness in reducing anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
