Lisbon Project - Taste of Hope
Help alleviate the suffering of migrants and refugees during COVID-19 crisis.
The repercussions of COVID-19 and the measures taken to stop its spread are having a massive impact on the migrant and refugee community in Portugal. Many of our beneficiaries were already vulnerable before and now find themselves in extremely difficult situations. Unable to work, so many are not receiving an income and simply cannot provide for themselves and their families. While the government has taken some steps to try to provide support, it is still unclear how this will play out in practice. In the meantime, we need YOUR HELP!
Our goal is to provide 30 hampers every week to families and individuals in need for the next 4 months! Hampers include:
• Non perishable food
• Fresh veg and fruits
• Hygiene products
• Cleaning products
• Baby products
As you stay home protecting yourself and your loved ones, please don’t isolate yourself from the needs of others.
Help us reach our goal by donating to this campaign and together we will bring hope to the most vulnerable in our community!

UPDATE #2 - 31/03/2020
We were invited by Aljazeera to comment on the Portuguese government's decision to temporarily legalise all migrants whose applications for residency were pending. The decision will hopefully bring our community some relief by granting them access to healthcare and other essential public services. However, many of our beneficiaries will not meet the criteria for most welfare funds. Others, may qualify, however we do not know yet how long help will take to arrive. We are counting on you to bring hope to what so often looks like hopeless situations.
UPDATE #1 - 21/03/2020
Before the official launch of this campaign, we appealed to our partners at Jeronimo Martins. They replied immediately with a donation of €800 to their Pingo Doce stores. Thanks to their generosity and few other individual donors (not mentioned on this page), we were able to make and deliver 56 hampers.
Here are some of the messages we got from supported families:
