Lil’ Miss Story Hour was founded and directed by Vanessa Little in 2019. We are a grass roots, Colorado Springs, Colorado-based donation-run educational organization, providing literacy themed programming and entertainment for children. We host community story times and events that present a diverse range of children's literature, written and illustrated by authors and illustrators from di by verse communities and support DEI ideology. The underrepresentation of diverse characters in children’s picture books and children’s literature is significant, and we want to change the narrative of the kind of books selected for children’s events. Thus, our main mission is to ensure that the children in this country know it is possible to access books with characters who look like them and events that elevate individuals who look like them.

Lil’ Miss Story Hour strives to foster imagination through literature and the Arts by ensuring that children see themselves represented in the books that they read. These efforts cannot take effect without the support of all of the members in our community. For this FUNraiser we aim to make Lil' Miss Story Hour a little more self sufficient and have a couple items on our needs list, a silent disco kit and a 10x10 outdoor/indoor vendor tent with four walls.  We need to raise some extra funds in order to make this happen, so this Winter, our goal will be $7,500 and we would greatly appreciate your sponsorship!

Your sponsorship will also ensure the ability for Lil' Miss Story Hour to continue bringing rich, intergenerational literacy and arts programming to the children of Colorado Springs and their families.
