LIGHTING UP SCHOOLS
Almost 60% of Gambians do not have access to electricity, with the rural communities like the one we work with lacking even the most basic access to electricity. This means no lights, no heating during the rainy season, no power for computers, no internet or modern learning resources for our schools.
The lack of energy limits the quantity and quality of the children’s education. With your help we can change this.
Our goal in 2020 is to increase the Nianija population’s access to sustainable electricity by providing cost-effective solar-powered electricity to schools and provide each and every student with a solar-powered lamp- environmentally friendly and safe lighting - enabling them to study and read for longer, even after sunset, leading to increased literacy levels.
