Goal
Sometimes in North America we take our schools and our recycling services for granted. That is not the case in rural Guatemala. In January, I am volunteering on the Lifetouch Memory Mission to help build a bottle schoolhouse out of in-organic trash and plastic bottles.
Every dollar raised through this effort will go directly to on-the-ground expenses to build the school. Our goal is raise $30,000. Will you help make a difference for the kids in Guatemala?

I have always been drawn to service opportunities and mission trips. This trip is particularly meaningful since my family has sponsored two children through Compassion International for the past two years and one of the children, Hancer, who lives in Guatemala shares a birthday with my son. Being able to volunteer in Hancer’s country, build a school and make a difference in the lives of students, is incredibly meaningful. I am passionate about helping children and students overcome poverty and have a chance at a good education.
I am excited to visit Guatemala and look forward to the sustainability aspect of this project, learning the process and seeing the finished work. The opportunity to work alongside the students and community to build a school with three classrooms promises to be very rewarding. I am also excited to meet new people and build relationships with other Lifetouch Memory Mission volunteers.
I am representing the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) on this trip.
