Goal
Students of Libby Booth encounter poverty, food insecurity & housing insecurity at a rate higher than any other Washoe County school. This can lead to lots of big emotions & the Wellness Center helps students in need work through difficult times. The secure & calming environment provides a space where they can take a deep breath & receive staff support. Libby Booth needs a part time employee to help staff this Wellness Center with an estimated cost of $20,000 per school year. It is our goal to fulfill that monetary need for the 2023-2024 school year with this challenge. Funds raised will contribute to the employee’s pay & support the Wellness Center.
More about the Wellness Center: The Wellness Center was overhauled last school year through the vision of Libby Booth’s Assistant Principal, Kellie Oliver. She saw the need to incorporate sensory stations to help students regulate difficult emotions. The Wellness Center is mainly funded through private donations. WCSD was able to secure a grant to fund a part time employee for the 2022-2023 school year, but those funds are temporary
