In 2022, Level Ground became a Black, Brown, and Queer artist-led cooperative nonprofit.
We completely re-imagined our work and community to better align with the vision that inspired us to start Level Ground almost 10 years ago!
OUR WORK
Level Ground runs 4 annual programs that support multimedia artists across diverse platforms from gallery shows, to printed publications, to nonfiction filmmaking. These programs include our: Residency Program, Artist Collective, Production Incubator, and SKEW Magazine.
OUR COMMUNITY
Our cooperative includes 3 community groups: Staff Artists, Collective Artists, and Contributors. If you are part of one of these groups, you are part of the Level Ground Community. As part of this new structure, the Level Ground Board includes 3 individuals from each community group. The board is voted on by community members.
Becoming a cooperative and restructuring our leadership model has been a 2+ year effort. As we continue to transform how we work and who is leading the work, we need a strong financial foundation. This is where you come in...
We can't keep experimenting without your support. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
At our Community Party (July '22). Photo by Meredith Adelaide. "Level Ground means a safe space to try radical avenues of artistry and to learn unfamiliar tools of expression. Creating and exhibiting art is both an act of revolution and a form of vulnerability—with the Level Ground community, revolution and vulnerability are championed."
