Goal
The Conflict in Palestine:
‘Every War is a War Against Children’
For decades, Palestinian youth have been at the heart of a conflict that has forced them from their homes, torn from their communities and deprived of their childhoods.
The scale of the humanitarian crisis is beyond comprehension. An estimated 21,000 children are missing, and in the Gaza Strip alone, approximately 1.9 million people - half of them children - are internally displaced. The destruction of Gaza’s educational infrastructure has been devastating, with 85% of schools damaged or destroyed and all 12 universities, along with countless libraries and museums, completely destroyed. The very foundations for ensuring the continuity of education for Gaza’s present and future generations have been completely eradicated. The devastation caused by this conflict is immeasurable, and its long-term ramifications on the younger generations' aspirations are difficult to comprehend.
No one should have to endure a continuous cycle of fear, distress, and grief, yet this is the current reality for millions. We now stand at a crucial intersection as an international community - one which demands our immediate collective action and unwavering humanity.
What Phoenix Space is Doing to Help Displaced Palestinian Youth:
In response, our team has been working tirelessly to launch the Leap Higher Scholarship Fund - an emergency response designed to provide immediate guidance and financial support to displaced Palestinian students to begin or continue their university education.
The Leap Higher program is designed for Palestinian youth who are enrolled in university or those who have passed their 12th-grade exams and aspire to pursue a university education - but lack both the opportunity and financial capacity to do so due to conflict and displacement. Initially, our efforts will focus on students who have fled Gaza and are looking to pursue education at top universities in Egypt and Jordan. Looking ahead, we aim to expand support to enable exceptional academic performers to enrol at top universities around the world. With 2,000 prospective participants already identified, our ambition is to provide support to every one of them.
Why Your Support is Crucial:
Education is a powerful equaliser that can restore the opportunities lost due to war and turmoil. Providing access to quality education is the most powerful tool we have to break the cycle of displacement and empower a generation of resilient, self-sufficient leaders and change-makers.
The Leap Higher pilot program is designed to provide immediate support while serving as the foundation for a larger vision. Its success will secure future growth and the continuity of its impact, ensuring that countless displaced Palestinian youth - including the 2,000 already eager to participate - are given the chance to pursue the education they deserve and the opportunity to rebuild their futures.
While we cannot help them reclaim everything they have lost, we can equip these young people with the tools and resources to build a brighter future - not just for themselves but for their communities.
We may not have the power to stop this conflict, but we do have the power to take action. Together, we can offer hope, provide support, and make a tangible difference in the lives of those who have lost everything. This is our time to unite as a global community, pool resources and pave the way for brighter futures.
Our goal is to support 2,000 displaced Palestinians. Ensuring they are given the chance to pursue the education they deserve and given the opportunity to rebuild their futures! Join us in making this vision a reality!!
