במרץ 23, נדב בן ה-9 ובני משפחתו קיבלו את אחת הבשורות הקשות שאפשר לקבל . לאחר יותר מחודש שנדב לא חש בטוב ואינספור ביקורים אצל רופאים שנותרו ללא אבחנה רפואית , נדב אובחן עם לוקמיה, סוג של סרטן הדם שבעיקר משפיע על ילדים.

הוריו של נדב, לי ותומר, ביחד עם שלושת ילדיהם, גיא (11) , נדב (9) ועמית (5) היגרו לארצות הברית לפני כחצי שנה כדי להגשים את החלום האמריקאי. תומר, המפרנס היחידי, פתח לאחרונה עסק עצמאי. לי הצטרפה למאמאנט ונהייתה מעורבת בקהילה, הילדים התמקמו במסגרות בית הספר.

במשך מספר שבועות נדב סבל מחום גבוה וסימפטומים נוספים שנותרו ללא אבחנה רפואית עד שלבסוף הגיע לרופא מומחה בבית החולים לילדים של לוס אנג'לס שאבחן אותו עם לוקמיה במצב מתקדם . נדב הובהל לחדר ניתוח לניתוח חירום.

נדב כרגע עדיין מאושפז בבית החולים לילדים בלוס אנג'לס ועובר טיפולים כימותרפיים לעצור את התפשטות המחלה. לאחר התייעצות עם מומחים מקצועיים, הוריו של נדב הבינו שבארצות הברית הוא יקבל את הטיפול הטוב ביותר במצבו. תוכנית הטיפולים יכולה לקחת עד 3 שנים להחלמה, בזמן הזה מערכת החיסונית של נדב תוחלש וכל המשפחה תצטרך לסגל אורח חיים מותאם וזהיר יותר.

עלות טיפולים מצילי החיים שנדב מקבל לא מכוסים במאת האחוזים על ידי הביטוח הבריאותי. תומר ולי לא עוזבים את מיטת בית החולים, כתוצאה מכך העסק של תומר לא מתפקד וההכנסה היחידה שהייתה למשפחה הופסקה.

בנוסף להוצאות המחייה השוטפות והחשבונות הרפואיים הגדולים, למשפחה יש 2 ילדים נוספים שזקוקים לטיפול יום יומי, הן בשגרת היום והן במצבם הנפשי.

מיותר לציין ששום משפחה לא צריכה להתמודד עם אי הוודאות בקבלת הטיפול הרפואי לילדם בגלל יוקר הטיפולים!

On March 23rd, Nine-year old Nadav and his family got one of the worst news anyone could receive. After more than a month of dealing with undiagnosed health scares and many doctor visits, He was diagnosed with Leukemia, which is a type of blood cancer that mainly affects children. 

Nadav’s parents Lee & Tomer along with their three children Guy (11), Nadav (9), and Amit (5). immigrated from Israel to the U.S. six months ago to pursue the American dream. Tomer, who is the sole provider, just opened a business. Lee joined Mamanet and became involved with the community, and the children settled in school.

For weeks, Nadav had high fever and other symptoms, and even after countless visits to the local clinics his condition remained undiagnosed. Finally, he had been seen by a specialist at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where he was diagnosed with leukemia at an advanced stage. Nadav was immediately rushed into the operating room for an emergency surgery.

Currently Nadav is still hospitalized at the Childrens’ Hospital of Los Angeles, and is undergoing rigorous chemotherapy treatments in the hope of stopping the spreading. 

After consulting with several experts and professionals, Nadav’s parents concluded that Nadav will get the best medical care and treatments here, in the U.S.A.. The treatment plan will take up to three years to remission, all while his immune system will be compromised and the entire family will need to adjust and live with the necessary precaution. 

The financial costs of this life-saving-treatment are not fully covered by the insurance. 

Tomer and Lee are constantly at Nadav’s bedside, which had taken a toll on Tomer’s business, and stopped the one source of income the family had. In addition to the ordinary living costs and the heavy medical expenses, the family has two other children who need constant care, both physically and mentally. Needless to say, no family should have to face the uncertainty of saving their child’s life due to lack of financial means. 

Larger Than Life, L.A. Family has been supporting children with pediatric cancer in Israel for the past 20 years. We, together with Mamanet, and the entire community, are launching this campaign to financially help Nadav & his family during this challenging time.
