Goal
Kiya Edwards is an international TV reporter and host currently working at KARE 11 News. She grew up in Minneapolis and is proud to be back in the area as of spring 2018. However, Kiya is a music fan and she often isn't able to highlight artists on the news because she's needed on breaking news and other must-cover stories.
She started Kiya & Co. not only for personal reasons but also to help solve a real problem in this market.
According to her company's music industry study, most Twin Cities music artists are dissatisfied with the number and variety of platforms available to showcase their talent and provide career updates. From DJs to executives, other music industry professionals agree. The problem worsened in 2020, when GO 95.3 went off air. Currently, there is only one commercial hip-hop radio station in the entire Twin Cities, iHeart Radio's 102.5, and it doesn't play Minnesota-made music.
Her new music talk show, "Kiya," will give artists a platform to share career updates in a live interview and deliver a live performance. The artist may also showcase preproduced content ranging from concerts to community service. The first recording of Kiya will be held before a live audience Saturday, Nov. 26 at Forgotten Star in Fridley featuring touring artist Tae Supreme.
We know what needs to be done and how to do it correctly but we can't do it without your generosity. Please consider making a donation to help cover production costs.
Thank you,
Kiya & Co.
