Goal

Our kindergarten building was in urgent need of repair. Broken support beams, areas at risk of collapse, and rainwater leaking through the roof had made the space unsafe, forcing classes to be canceled during heavy rains. This building is a pillar of our school, and our kindergarten program lays the foundation for a child’s entire educational journey—preparing them for primary school and, prayerfully, secondary education and beyond.

We are grateful to share that as of February 2026, the roof has been fully replaced. In true Haiti fashion, this project took persistence and teamwork. After days of searching, we were able to find quality tin in Cap-Haïtien, then arranged transportation to Gonaïves, where our materials were able to share a load with our incoming food order to help make delivery possible. Once the old tin was removed, our team discovered far more rotten support beams than anticipated. Everything had to be ripped up and rebuilt—meaning we had to place an additional lumber order and cover extra transportation costs at the last minute. Over several days, our contractor and team worked hard to complete the roof—sometimes delayed by light rain showers—working against the clock while the children were on break so school could safely resume.

We are happy to report the new roof is up and holding strong, already surviving its first two heavy rainstorms without leaking. However, this urgent project exceeded our original goal and cost over $6,000. We are still working to raise the remaining funds to fully cover this repair so we can move forward with fundraising for the many other urgent needs around ECCBH.

Our kindergarten program is one of the strongest in our region, made exceptional by the dedication of our staff and the leadership of our director, Madam Issernier. Day after day, they pour their hearts into these little ones—creating a nurturing, structured environment where children feel safe, encouraged, and excited to learn. Their love, patience, and commitment are shaping young lives, and this repaired space is vital to continuing that work.
