Our club at Northwestern Michigan College finally has enough members to be involved in our community as leaders for the LGBTQ+ community! We have joined and support Equality Michigan and Up North Pride because we are a queer organization in Traverse City and support these organizations respective missions. This past year, our club has taken on several projects on NMC's campus which has positively impacted LGBTQ+ students; one of which is a free clothing closet for all students, most especially transgender and gender nonconforming students who would otherwise have a difficult time shopping for affirming clothing. Come check out our on campus efforts!

Anyway, we are so excited to play kickball at the kick off to pride! We all wanted a reason to get together and be gay outside of the regular academic semesters and this is such a perfect opportunity! If you would like to donate to our team, we are playing with the spirit of LGBTQ+ college students making a difference. We may not be the most athletic, but we will definitely bring the most fun energy to the event! We are coming with our whole club, some of us will be sideline cheerleaders, and all of us are Trans except one!!! 

The inaugural Pride Kickball Competition in Traverse City, a collaborative effort between Up North Pride and Equality Michigan, serves as a pivotal event for fostering community support and championing the cause of LGBTQ+ rights in Northern Michigan. 

This event isn't solely a celebration; it's an essential fundraiser that bolsters the ongoing efforts of these organizations throughout the year. Up North Pride's advocacy, educational initiatives, and community engagement activities create safe spaces and advocate for policies promoting equality and acceptance. Equality Michigan stands as a stalwart advocate for justice and nondiscrimination policies, providing critical resources and legal support to combat prejudice.
