Keep Our Community Growing

We Are Building a Community that Inspires Change

I believe in the transformative power of Culturally Fluent Families.  What we are able to discuss and promote in an online community only scratches the surface of what we can do collectively to create the world that we want our children to live in.  I hope that as members of this online group, that you are learning that it is not what you read in a book or in discussion threads to creates the change, it is what you do with with the new knowledge that you can.  I am 100% committed to this work and to this project of helping families find ways to empower themselves and have access to the tools, resources, and people that help lead to the positive self-identity of black children.

When she started the group our team had no idea of what it would grow into.  I believed then and believe now that a platform built on acceptance, integrity, and education was needed!  I show up in this group as I do for my clients with a passion for people and a desire to help others create great outcomes.

Learning is greater than change.  I believe in this learning community and demonstrate that by the time I invest in it.  I don't want members to just be learners but truly invested community partners.  Think about the costs that being a part of this group has helped you to avoid or just what it means to participate in such a unique experience. As long as you are willing to learn and grow, we will continue helping you meet your goals as culturally fluent parents.  There are more educational and relationship building opportunities planned for the near future but we need your help to make them a reality.

If you believe in the mission and appreciate our community, please donate to Culturally Fluent Families.

Respectfully,

I'm sorry I don't have alot to give but I just wanted Ms. Valerie to know that I truly appreciate all her work and effort at helping Black children by helping us as parents. I respect your advice and applaud your taking time away for yourself. 💜

Your mentoring through this group has made all the difference in my son's health and happiness. It has also changed me... In every good way. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done to confront everything I was taught and believed. You challenge me (us, really but it feels personal) to grow up and grow out of the nonsense that traps us and our children in cycles of abuse. I'm still learning and growing with your guidance. Thank you!

Laura

For all the work you’ve put in to help our kids and by extension our whole family. Merry Christmas!

Thank you for your commitment to helping families. Without this page, I would not have known my blind spots and the spaces I was not centering my child. Your time and efforts and have changed the trajectory for her. Big changes like moving her from her daycare, creating relationships with her biological family, and our newest adventure: moving from our predominately white town to new city where she will see people who look like her in every setting. Thank you!

I wish every CFF would contribute at least $10/month -I am struggling financially but this is less than $0.35/day and the amount of work that could be done - the difference that could be made in the world 🤯

You are an Instrument of the Divine. Thank you for who you are and how you are. The work you do will ripples outward and I pray it ripples back to you in blessings every single day. In the Lakota spiritual philosophy, our work and prayers heal seven generations forward and seven generations back. You are the 8th generation, Miss Valarie. You are healing generations, and I am so grateful for you.
