What if we could build a future where the animals we've promised to protect never have to depend on another emergency fundraiser to receive the care they deserve?

At Journey with Equus, we believe every life matters. For more than a decade, we've rescued horses and other equines who have been abandoned, neglected, discarded, or placed at risk of slaughter. 

Many arrive carrying physical and emotional scars. Some will never be rideable. Some will never be adopted. But every single one deserves dignity, compassion, and a place to call home.

And something extraordinary happens here. The very animals who once needed someone to save them become partners in helping humans heal through our equine-partnered wellness programs. 

Children and adults navigating life's most difficult moments discover connection, hope, and the courage to move forward.

We call it Saving the Forgotten, Healing the Hurting.

But keeping that promise takes more than love.

Today, operating Journey with Equus requires approximately $300,000 annually. Hay, grain, veterinary care, farrier services, medications, fencing, shelters, repairs, and everyday operations are all essential to providing the care these animals deserve.

As the cost of hay and other necessities has risen dramatically, our financial reserves have been exhausted. We've found ourselves fundraising daily to meet immediate needs. 

While we're incredibly grateful for every person who has helped keep this sanctuary going, we know that surviving from one emergency to the next is not a sustainable future.

That's why we've created the Journey with Equus Sustainability Fund.

Our initial goal is $300,000, representing approximately one full year of operating expenses.

Beyond that first milestone, our vision is to establish financial reserves that will protect our animals, sustain our healing programs, and provide long-term stability for generations to come.

Imagine knowing that a full year's worth of hay is funded. 

That an unexpected veterinary emergency doesn't mean another desperate appeal. That when a shelter needs to be built, fencing needs replacing, or another Colorado winter approaches, we have the financial resources to respond.

Imagine what we could accomplish if we could focus more of our time and energy on saving animals and helping humans heal instead of constantly worrying about how to keep the doors open.

This is the future we're determined to build.

Become a Founding Supporter of the Sustainability Fund

The Journey with Equus Sustainability Fund is a dedicated major-giving initiative accepting contributions of $1,000 or more.

We invite individuals, businesses, private family foundations, donor-advised funds, and philanthropic partners to invest in the long-term future of our sanctuary.

We also welcome personal conversations about significant gifts of property, appreciated assets, charitable trusts, estate bequests, family foundation grants, and other legacy-giving opportunities.
