Joey's Journey Fund

On June 6th, 2023, Joey Hannigan was involved in a diving accident. Joey is the 16 year old son of John and Melissa Hannigan. John serves as our Executive Director, and Melissa is an author and speaker. Read John and Melissa's words below:

Many of you have prayed and we appreciate every single prayer sent on Joeys behalf during this season. Since the day of Joeys accident we have known that God has been in every step of this journey. Joeys positive attitude and faith has been a light in the middle of a very dark situation. We are so proud of him.

As some of you may know, last Tuesday, June 13th, Joey began to show signs of an infection, had several strokes and became unconscious. We prayerfully waited for answers as multiple doctors were consulted and many interventions and tests were done. Yesterday a new EEG and MRI showed severe, irreversible brain damage. We now know Joey is no longer in pain and our hearts are broken as we prepare to say goodbye to our sweet boy. We are still praying for a miracle, and we know ultimately that God will have the final say.

On Thursday, June 29th, Joey passed peacefully into the arms of his Heavenly Father. While our hearts are broken, we do not grieve as those without hope, we know this isn't goodbye but only see you soon because of the saving faith Joey had in Jesus. His sixteen, almost seventeen years, were a gift and it was our privilege to watch him grow into the incredible guy that we all know and fiercely love.

We appreciate the prayers and love you've poured out on our family during this past 3 weeks and ask that you continue to pray as we all figure out how to grieve this great loss. God has been so faithful to us on this journey, there are so many stories to tell, and we will share soon. For now we ask for space as we spend time with the girls and shepherd their tender hearts through this difficult time.

Joey was active in the ministry helping with all of the tech needs of our various events. He was also a willing set of hands to do whatever he could to help the ministry. He was a special young man with a kind heart. The perfect blend of Melissa and John.

John and Melissa, and their family, have given selflessly to this ministry over the past 3 years. We would not be where we are today if God hadn't sent them here. Now it is our turn to be the hands and feet of Christ and wrap His arms around them. There are considerable expenses involved in the past 3 weeks, and for the next several months as they adjust to their new life together. As a ministry we have established a fund for the Hannigan family where 100% of the contributions will be used as directed by John and Melissa. This will not only help them, but will establish a legacy for Joey.
