Water for Generations
For most of us, accessing clean drinking water is as simple as walking to the sink and filling our glass. In other countries, it is typically children or women walking for miles to access a water source that is often dirty and full of bacteria. Globally, over 3 million of the world’s poor die due to waterborne disease. Safe, clean water and proper sanitation are essential for hygiene and good health. Mercy works with ministry partners to provide community wells and filtration systems so families and communities have access to clean, safe drinking water. After installing clean water systems, families report their health, and particularly their children’s health, improves significantly.
The average cost of a well is $2,500 (although the cost varies by country and community). Monthly donations provide essential, sustainable, long-term water resources, giving hope today and to future generations.
