Today I learned from my grandma the unfortunate news that one of our family members was killed in Jamaica. Sheldon, who we affectionately called Kush, was a man with an exceptional soul. He died earlier this week after being stabbed in the heart by the mentally ill mother of his 6 year old son, Jeremiah, who suffers from early onset diabetes. Kush was his son's primary caretaker, and now he has been tragically taken from us by the same one who brought Jeremiah into this world.

While we mourn for the dead, we also grieve for the living. Jeremiah has now been placed on an exceptionally difficult path in life. He is very young, not in the best health, and now without either of his parents. I've set up a fundraiser that can be donated to on Jeremiah's behalf. Anything helps and all donations will be devoted to ensuring that we maintain and improve Jeremiah's health, feed and clothe him, and get him a proper education. Kush did not deserve to die this way, and his innocent son does not deserve to be a victim of this terrible situation. Help us give him the life his father always wanted for him.

Whatever you give will be in honor of this great man's memory, in honor of a father who did all he could with what he had, even though it was rarely enough. He loved his son dearly, and that love carried them and kept them whole. I hope that we can pick up that same love and show it to one another but especially to Jeremiah, now, when he needs it the most.
