Lebanon and Israel are again in the headlines. Lebanon, the beautiful and small country just north of Israel where they graciously hosts the highest number of refugees per capita in the world. In the past few years, Lebanon has dealt with a crippling financial crisis, an earthquake, and the unbelievably powerful explosion at its port that made this struggling country even more dire.

Now with Israel’s constant bombing and ground invasion in the past few weeks, it’s estimated that over 1 million people in Lebanon have been displaced. With all that’s against them, the Lebanese government estimates that they host 1.5 million Syrian refugees and another 300,000 Palestinian refugees which in total make up a quarter of the nation’s population. Imagine if 1 out of 4 people in your country was a refugee. Now in early October, many Lebanese have now settled into governmental shelters, but non Lebanese are mostly prohibited from these services and hundreds of thousands are now living on the street.

Just for a moment, imagine you’re a refugee family of 5 living in the suburbs of Beirut, and you have zero ties to Lebanon, or Israel, or Hezbollah, or Hamas, or the USA, but you’re from war torn Syria living in the capital of a foreign country and are now being displaced again, and again.

A Ripple has been on the ground here in Lebanon for the past few days and with your help, we’re planning to help as many displaced people as possible with proper shelter, safe water, and hygiene.

Yes, we unfortunately know we can’t help everyone here in Lebanon who are displaced, but with your help we can be that drop that makes a ripple. As Mother Teresa said, “We know only too well that what we are doing is nothing more than a drop in the ocean. But if the drop were not here, the ocean would be missing something.” Thank you for your consideration.
