Goal
đ„ Help Us Build Chuâs New Night-time Enclosure! đ„
It has been an incredibly challenging year for Isara Elephant Team and  Isara Elephant Foundation is helping the elephants get a new enclosure. With ongoing land-rights issues still unresolved and Chu now needing much closer care than before,  Isara's elephants were forced to relocate. The cost of this move has been enormous. Higher operating expenses at the new propertyâalong with essential repairs and the loss of usual income sourcesâhave completely drained resources.
Chuâs age-related needs have also increased rapidly. She has required supplemental food for some time due to poor digestion and age-related tooth loss, and carrying these much-needed feeds on foot into the deep forest was becoming increasingly impractical for the staff. Chu is much older than anyone initially thought, and the deep forest presents significant challenges for elderly elephants. While her mahout was always close by, if she were to fall or become unwell, getting veterinary help quickly would not have been possible. Even without the land issues, bringing her in for closer monitoring was always going to be necessary. The new location is therefore far more suitable for Chu as she enters her âgrandma era.â
The new home is a beautiful environment for the elephants, with open grass fields, forest, a fresh stream, and a large pond. It was once an elephant camp many years ago, but after sitting unused for so long, it had become very run-down. Extensive work has been required to make it safe and comfortable for both the elephants and their dedicated caretakers. While huge progress has been made, things still arenât ideal just yet.
A safe, comfortable nighttime space must still be builtâand weâre asking for your help to make this happen.
Your support will directly create a peaceful, protected area where the girls can rest safely each night.
We need to raise USD 5,000 to build this for them. The Elephant Initiative, has gifted up to a 1000 USD matchđđ!
Thank you for helping these elephants live out their days in nature, comfort, and freedom.
