Goal
Lynchburg, Bedford, Campbell, Amherst, Forest.... these communities deserve real local news. Emma Malinak has written nearly a hundred stories in the year she's been a Report for America corps member with Cardinal News, including on local primaries and elections, new directions for historic institutions like Virginia Baptist Hospital, improvements to Lynchburg's water infrastructure and so much more.
Invest in Emma's work to keep the stories coming.
We're looking for at least 30 new members before July 31 to help sustain Emma's reporting in Lynchburg. Cardinal Club members give monthly or annually and receive Cardinal Club member perks such as exclusive content from our reporters, free tickets to area events and more. One time gifts are also welcome. And there's great incentive to give right now: A local donor will match the first $5,000 received for Lynchburg donations. That means your impact will be doubled.
(If you prefer to make your gift another way – such as through an IRA, donor-advised funds or a transfer of appreciated stock – just reach out to Sarah Stevenson, Chief Revenue Officer, at sarah@cardinalnews.org for details. You can also mail a check to
P.O. Box 4455, Roanoke VA 24015.)
Invest in real reporting for Lynchburg – give now. Thank you.

I’m from Charlottesville, but appreciate the beautifully written, unbiased and fact based journalism on parts of the state that lack the reporting of larger media outlets. Quirky, but fascinating and important stories like Emma’s coverage Lynchburg sewage tunnel make Cardinal’s reporting entertaining as well as important. Keep snagging great young talent and keep the grizzled reporters (no offense, Dwayne!) churning out their excellent reportage.
