Goal

The Independence Fire/EMS Department is dedicated to the protection of life, property and the environment for those who live, work, visit, or invest in our community. Our well-educated and dedicated personnel pledge to deliver the highest quality fire suppression, public fire education, emergency medical services, code enforcement, and emergency response to all natural or man-made disasters. This professional commitment to service is also demonstrated by promoting personal development within the department and utilizing effective principles and practices of modern fire and life safety technology in an accountable manner.

We are currently raising funds to purchase two new Stryker LUCAS Chest Compression Systems, which is a mechanical CPR device designed to deliver high-quality, consistent chest compressions during cardiac arrest. The LUCAS device improves patient outcomes, frees up EMS personnel, and enhances provider safety, especially during transport or prolonged resuscitation efforts. These devices cost approximately $20,000 each and would go on our first out 911 call ambulances.

In addition, we are raising funds to purchase new reflective EMS coats for our 22 Fire-EMS personnel ($200 each).
