iNaturalist changed my life—even as someone who was already a nature lover. For my 40th birthday this month, I'm asking for donations to support this life-changing platform that puts a spotlight on biodiversity.
I have my dream job. From the moment I realized that iNaturalist was a way to turn my random photos of plants, animals, and fungi into organized records for science, I was enthralled. Nine and a half years later, I am more convinced than ever that iNaturalist is not only a life-changing tool but a world-changing one, too. Smartphone in hand, I've noticed and learned more about the species around me than I ever did even during my PhD in ecology. Thanks to the efforts of millions of people, we'll be able to synthesize data into timely insights about how biodiversity is changing and how we can protect it.
I'm so thankful for each of you who has also made iNaturalist a part of your life. I love seeing what you find! Here's a visual summary of what I've recorded on iNaturalist in 2021 (over 1,100 unique species). If you want to read more about my job with iNaturalist, check out my profile.
Can you help celebrate my 40th birthday with a gift to iNaturalist?
