In Memory of Rick Marion
Richard W. Marion, 70, went to be with the Lord suddenly on April 4, 2026.
Born on May 3, 1955, in Trenton, New Jersey, Richard was the son of Joseph Marion and Mary Ann (Neeld) Marion. He grew up in Levittown, Pennsylvania, where he met the love of his life, Valerie. Rick and Val just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Valentine’s Day this year.
Richard was the eldest of 7 kids and a trouble maker from the start. He was an Eagle Scout and carried that spirit of loyalty, resourcefulness, and quiet strength throughout his life. He built a long and respected career as an elevator mechanic, taking pride in his work and the loving the people he worked alongside. Outside of work, Rick’s interest reached far and wide and touched many hearts.
He was a man of simple joys and strong opinions, known for his quirks, his sense of humor, and the way he showed love in steady, dependable ways. He carried a mischievous smile and a twinkle in his eye that those who met him will never forget. He enjoyed time with family, and the things that made life feel grounded and real. Above all, he loved being a husband, father, and grandfather.
He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Daniel Marion; and his nephew, Andrew Marion, along with several beloved extended family members and dear friends.
Richard is survived by his high school sweetheart, Valerie Marion, three daughters, Juliet Sweeney, Heather Marion and Cheryl Shaffer; his sons-in-law, Matthew Sweeney and Desmond Shaffer; and the apples of his eye—his grandchildren Amani, Ean, Kaiyah and Ivan, who brought him immense pride and joy. He is also survived by 5 siblings. He leaves behind countless loved ones, family and friends alike - who were blessed by his presence and will carry his memory forward.
Richard will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. He would want everyone to be comforted and know that he is now rejoicing in heaven with his Savior, Jesus.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Watsontown Alliance Church on Saturday, April 11th at 12pm. Visitation times will be beforehand from 10 - 12.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Man Up to Cancer in Richard’s
honor. https://donorbox.org/in-memory-of-rick-marion Man up to Cancer is an organization that became so important to Rick after he fought and won his battle with cancer. Man Up to Cancer inspires men to connect and avoid isolation during their cancer journeys.
