In Memory of Evan Weissman

In April 2021, in honor of the first anniversary of Evan's passing, SOFSA  established this fund to support the continued expansion of urban orchards and edible perennials in our community. Each spring, in partnership with Onondaga Earth Corps and our many members, SOFSA will  bring people together  to plant new fruiting  trees and  perennial shrubs  and to  provide care to those planted in years past.

With dirt under our nails and hearty belly laughs, our actions together will  help us to remember Evan and his many contributions to the cause of food justice in Syracuse and well beyond its borders. Thank you for supporting this effort to honor Evan's enduring legacy.

The Syracuse-Onondaga Food Systems Alliance operates under the fiscal agency of Syracuse Grows, Inc. a registered 501(c)3 organization in New York State.

I can't think of a more fitting tribute than to establish edible plants in Evan's honor. May his family, friends, and colleagues and students remember him each time they pass by - a testament to the beauty, inspiration, and nourishment that Evan gave everyone he encountered.
