Goal

The International Lindy Hop Championships (ILHC) was created in 2008 to honor the legacy of Lindy Hop - an original, authentic American art form rooted in the 1920s - 1930s African American community of Harlem, New York - and to celebrate both its historic roots and its ongoing innovations.

Many of the dance style’s originators and tradition-bearers were (and are!) mentors and dear friends to members of the ILHC global organizing team, and many elements of this event are strongly influenced by their wishes for this art form’s future. But we need YOUR help to fulfill our collective vision!

Our mission is to respect and honor the spirit of Lindy Hop by hosting an international competition extended weekend which is organized, performed, and judged at the highest levels possible and inclusive of all nations wishing to participate. At its core, the International Lindy Hop Championships exists to honor the dancers who created Lindy Hop. Many legends have passed away, but  this  event has been shaped by many conversations about the desires of those elders.

*Appreciation items must be picked up at ILHC NYC 2023
