IJM Ghana Fundraiser
Hello friends! In September, I moved to Ghana for a year to work with International Justice Mission (IJM). IJM is a global organization that works to protect those in poverty from violence.
In Ghana, we specifically work to fight child trafficking on Lake Volta. Children as young as four are trafficked to work in the fishing industry. They are abused, physically, and sexually, they are not allowed to go to school, they sleep and eat very little. Some children even drown as they are forced to untangle fishing nets deep in the lake.
We believe child trafficking on the lake can end by working with partners to rescue children and help them be restored in a safe environment. We make sure traffickers go through the judicial system to face appropriate consequences for their actions. Lastly, we train and partner with the government and local NGOs to assist in reforming the justice system.
I am so blessed to be a part of a fantastic team working to free children and make sure slavery on Lake Volta ends! This is an unpaid position, and the money you donate will go to cover my most basic living expenses as I seek justice in Ghana. A year in Ghana usually costs around $15,000, including rent, visas, transportation, and food. Any amount you are able to donate is appreciated!
Thank you for your partnership and your passion for helping children experience freedom!
