When I grow up I want to be...a doctor

Many of you may remember Idjolson, the brave boy who faced a severe infection on his leg, and how your generous support helped provide him with the medical care he needed in 2021. Unfortunately, in June 2022, we received heartbreaking news from the Pastor: Idjolson's beloved grandmother, who had cared for him since he was abandoned, underwent surgery but did not survive. She was his last remaining family, and her loss deeply affected him.

When Idjolson arrived at the orphanage, we were saddened to see that his leg infection had worsened significantly. However, through God’s grace and the kindness of generous donors, including a donation of First Honey products and the expertise of a missionary doctor, we began to see improvements by the end of 2022. The journey to healing has been filled with challenges, as we’ve worked to find the right treatments while determining what irritates his skin. After much prayer and careful observation, we’ve concluded that he is most likely dealing with eczema.

As of September 2023, we are thankful to report that we have made great strides in managing his eczema, significantly reducing flare-ups. Our daily care for him is a labor of love, and we are committed to keeping a close watch on his progress. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all who have supported Idjolson’s medical needs; your generosity has truly been a blessing in his life.

Idjolson finds joy in playing soccer, drawing, and anything related to cars. Math is his favorite subject, and it’s clear that he has a bright and inquisitive mind. He has also formed a close-knit group of brothers here at the orphanage, and it fills our hearts with joy to see him happy and thriving. We pray that he experiences the deep love, acceptance, and belonging his heart longs for, and that in his search for meaning and healing, he is drawn closer to God, finding peace, purpose, and hope in Him.
