Ida's Medical Fundraiser

Sweet Ida was surrendered to FuRRR in November 2025. She was instantly friendly, enjoying pets and attention. Up until recently, she had no health concerns. We began noticing a persistent cough and brought her to our vet to check for asthma or another respiratory problem. We were surprised to learn that her little body hid a big secret- a diaphramatic hernia. She most likely had it at birth and it went undetected. A diaphramatic hernia causes a small tear in the diaphragm which allows abdominal organs, such as the stomach and intestines to move into the chest cavity. A portion of Ida's intestines and colon are in her chest cavity. She requires surgery to repair the hernia. Without it, there's a strong probability her intestines would become twisted, leading to a potentially fatal outcome. Ida is an otherwise healthy, bright, friendly and very adoptable cat. All surgeries carry risks but we anticipate Ida will make a full recovery. 

FuRRR Feline Rescue is an all volunteer non-profit. All donations go directly to the care of our cats. We believe every cat deserves a chance.
