ICI Laycock Ward Fundraiser

I am Ilkay Cinko-Oner, one of the founders of Islington Community Independents, and your local independent councillor for Laycock Ward, standing in the Islington Council local elections on 7th May 2026.

My pledge

I was elected as a councillor for Laycock Ward in May 2022 and have since founded ICI, alongside my Independent colleagues. My priority has always been standing up for local residents and making sure their voices are heard. Before becoming a councillor, I was active in community campaigns and supporting people through my work in immigration law. In the council I have pushed for action on housing, including tackling damp and mould and improving support for care leavers. I am currently working with residents to set up a Parents and Carers Union. I have also spoken out on workers’ rights, refugees and migrants’ rights, and protecting public services. I believe politics should be rooted in humanity, justice, integrity and compassion

My campaign is powered entirely by local volunteers and residents who want a stronger independent voice in Islington Town Hall.

Why I need your support

Unlike the national parties, I have no major backers, and running a local election campaign is expensive. Your donation will help us:

•  Print leaflets and posters
 • Organise community meetings and canvassing
 • Reach more residents across Laycock Ward
 • Build a people-powered local campaign
