Welfare Not Warfare // Prisons Don’t Work // Migration is Life // Free Palestine

Amu Gib is standing for election with Islington Community Independents while on remand in HMP Bronzefield for allegedly spray‑painting two RAF warplanes used to assist bombing Palestinians. They endured a 49‑day hunger strike opposing genocide.

Amu grew up in Finsbury Park and attended Pakeman and Montem primary schools, Islington Arts and Media School and City and Islington Sixth Form College. Before their arrest last year, Amu had worked in a wide variety of jobs including community support worker, bicycle mechanic (they are a keen cyclist), and NHS patient transport driver.

Amu's policies include:

  • Homes with dignity. End evictions, hold landlords to account, and fight for real social housing.
  • We keep each other safe. Open youth spaces and fund mutual aid, not over‑policing or surveillance tech.
  • Education for all. Train more SEN educators and build local support networks focused on children’s wellbeing.
  • Fund our lives, not war. Lobby to redirect government war budgets to councils, which includes funding for AI military tech giant Palantir, used in our hospitals.

Islington Community Independents (ICI) stands for:

  • People over profit
  • Public good over private gain
  • Community power over top-down control
