IAVE COVID-19 Response Fund
Our Global Network of Volunteering Leadership organizations are on the frontlines of helping their communities respond to COVID-19.
In response to the outbreak, IAVE has launched the IAVE COVID-19 Response Fund to support volunteer-led preparedness, containment, response and recovery activities. This Fund will help ensure volunteering organizations have resources to keep critical volunteering efforts strong in this time of such great need.
Overview
The IAVE COVID-19 Response Fund will focus on supporting global volunteer leadership organizations working directly to respond to the pandemic among the most vulnerable populations in order to help build their capacity for response.
These will include organizations focused on youth, older adults, people with disabilities and other communities vulnerable to the physical health, mental health and economic impacts of the pandemic including:
- Supporting volunteer healthcare workers: Many volunteering leadership organizations lack funds for capital purchases of masks, gowns, gloves and other essential personal protective equipment. These items help prevent the infection of essential medical staff who are at increased risk because of their close contact with people who may be infected.
- Supporting quarantined and especially vulnerable individuals: The use of quarantines is crucial in helping control the spread of any infectious disease, including COVID-19. Volunteer leadership organizations are helping provide key services (shopping for necessities, etc.) for those unable to do so themselves.
- Supporting training and hygiene promotion activities: Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) are key to limiting the spread of any infection, especially those that are spread by close contact. Increasing access to WASH resources will help limit the spread of coronavirus and other infections. Supporting volunteer training on WASH measures will help limit the spread of all viruses and other infections.
