Goal
Humanity in Progress is a 501c3 charitable non-profit organization. Providing connection of basic needs for people experiencing housing insecurity while educating the community on the importance of housing first and preventing homelessness in Petersburg.
The Work Your Gift Sets in Motion
Grab & Go Bags
Our outdoor pantry had ready-to-eat essentials—protein bars, pop-top soups, fruit cups. No stove required, no questions asked. When someone’s backpack is their kitchen, these bags turn “What will I eat?” into “I’ve got this.”
Kitchen Bags – two real meals, one less worry.
On the third Sunday of each month our volunteers set out rows of brown paper sacks—each one packed to become two meals. Think pasta, sauce, bread, peanut butter and jelly.
Housing Assistance – the bill that stops an eviction.
Sometimes security is just a number: $318 to keep the lights on, $900 to bridge a rent deposit. We cut that check directly to the landlord or utility company, buying neighbors the breathing room that keeps them from slipping into homelessness.
Project Connect – one roof, every resource.
January in Petersburg is dark and wet, but the John Hanson hall glows. For one day we serve a warm meal, hand out heavy-duty coats, and bring every service agency we can fit into the hall. While folks warm up, trained volunteers complete the nationwide Point-in-Time survey—data that shows in state and federal numbers.
Your donation fuels these programs—food on the shelf today, power in the meter next month, and home for someone. Thank you for standing neighbor-to-neighbor with Humanity In Progress.

We were the fishermen that tried to get salmon to this summer. I'm sorry (from George) that didn't work out. Thank you for your work!
